1. We had 2 twin rooms. The view from the window of our rooms was amazing. We could see the river and the rotating bridge from our rooms. Though the room is not too big, the beds are comfortable enough. 2. They provided free car park space nearby. 3. We walked only 4-5 minutes from the hotel to the cable car station to Amanohashidate viewland observation deck (The view from this deck is called Hiryukan, meaning "a flying dragon") 4. The hotel offered its own private onsen onsite. Though it is a bit small and an extra 600 yen was charged, I thought it was a worth experience as I did enjoy its peacefulness. 5. We all had a wonderful, peaceful relaxing morning walk along Amanohashidate's pine-coverend Sandbar. It was pity that we did not complete walking to the other end of the Sandbar as time is running short. 6. Very friendly hosts 7. We all had an enjoyable dinner and breakfast. The food was good. The staff who served us was friendly and nice.

My husband declared our room at Taikourou the nicest we had in Japan. It was comfortable , in traditional style ( but with mattresses on raised platforms) , filled with light and fresh air , with a wonderful view of the park and swing bridge. Having a couple of comfortable chairs to sit and take in the view was wonderful. Dinners at this ryokan were wonderful and used seasonal ingredients. We love the experience of these traditional meals. There was also a lovely onsen - small but then I did have it to myself so no problem. I can’t end this review without mentioning the staff who were so kind and helpful. There was one woman in particular who went out of her way to help us understand the meals, ensured we had everything we needed and just generally she was so positive in our interactions.

Outstanding property. Beautiful (traditional) lobby where we were greeted with local sweets and beverage. Friendly staff who spoke some English. Picked us up at train station because it was raining a bit when we arrived (the visitor center made a phone call to them on our behalf.) Location was perfect, just around the corner from the rotating bridge, temple, rental bicycles and the beach. Our Japanese style room looked out at the sea/bridge and was so quiet. Though the onsen is not private, it was generally empty so I had it to myself both times I visited. Dinner was artful and tasty. The Japanese breakfast was filling and delicious and served in a dining area with a beautiful view. We were sad we only booked one night.

The staff was very friendly and made the place comforting. For foreign visitors, they do their best to communicate in english. The building is old and has a traditional charm to it. Reminded me of my grandma's house in her mountain village. Food was delicious in a cozy little restaurant. The public baths are on the smaller side but there is also a bath tub and shower in the room for those that are less comfortable with the public bath. Great location to the port, local shops, and station. Highly recommend <3

The staff at this hotel is exceptionally professional and welcoming. We are travelers from Taiwan, and the hotel is very patient with guests who are not familiar with Japanese culture. The overall environment is clean and comfortable, and the historic building is well-maintained. The meals for one night and two days are also very delicious, with generous portions and exquisite presentation. Choosing a room facing the river offers a picturesque view outside the window.
